Hawks Dominate Tigers

The Golden Tigers fell to the #23 nationally ranked Shorter Hawks on Saturday's matchup in Rome, Georgia with a final score of 72-45. It was a back- and-forth battle in the first half, with Shorter (20-5; SSAC 12-3) leading 33-27 at the end of the period. In the second half, the Lady Hawks pulled away from the Tigers (11-15; SSAC 5-10) in the first 10 minutes, going on a 21-10 run and never looking back. The hosts maintained at least a 20-point lead for the remainder of the contest. Poor shooting plagued the Tigers, connecting on just 27% from the field and 46% from the free throw line, while Shorter also managed to pull down 50 rebounds to Brenau's 40.

Leading all scorers in the contest was Shorter's Shelby Farrer with 17 points and 10 rebounds, along with Robyn Foster with 15. Brenau's sole player in double figures was junior guard Nikki Reed, turning in another solid performance with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals. Junior Olivia Williams came off the bench to contribute 5 points along with 6 boards.

The Golden Tigers' next matchup is at home against SSAC opponent, and NAIA #4 nationally ranked Lee University Monday night at 6:00 p.m. This matchup is Brenau basketball's "Pink Night", with all proceeds to go towards the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" fund.
