
Skyhawks Race by Golden Tigers in AAC Competition
West Point, Georgia- The Point Skyhawks used a big third quarter to break open an 84-48 win over the Brenau Golden Tigers in AAC play on Thursday.
In the first quarter, both teams played even until the last 1:45 as the home team closed the period on a 9-2 run to take an early 23-9 lead. However, in the second quarter, the Golden Tigers found solid footing as sophomore Nyla Moore scored six points in the period to close the gap by halftime.
In the third quarter, Point again used a 12-0 run in the final three minutes to pull away with the victory. Brenau regained its footing in the fourth quarter, but was unable to close the gap.
Moore led Brenau with a career-high 23 points while freshman Kayla Stafford posted career-highs with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Point's Nicole Izuagie led the Skyhawks with 18 points.
Brenau (4-13 overall, 3-12 AAC) next travels to St. Andrews (NC) University (0-19 overall, 0-18 AAC) in an AAC matchup on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
