Myers' Late goal Pushes Lady Koalas Past Brenau to Advance in AAC

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Soccer Tournament got underway Wednesday as a late goal sent No. 7 Columbia past No. 10 Brenau Univ. (GA) in a 1-0 thriller. Pikeville also defeated Union 4-3 on PKs.

Columbia and Brenau (5-9-3) appeared to be on their way to overtime as it was scoreless late into the match, after a quality corner kick from Myers midway through the second half that had Malia Kincaid's shot rattle off the crossbar. However, with four minutes to play, senior forward Jordan Myers broke the deadlock with a rocketed free kick off her foot that no keeper would have been able to save to grab her ninth goal of the season in the 86th minute.

Sophomore keeper Teagan Eisenring registered four saves in picking up the shutout win. CC outshot the Tigers 8-2 in the second half and 10-6 overall as Myers led the team with 4 shots and 3 on goal.

Both teams move on to the quarterfinal round where Pikeville will face No. 1 Truett McConnell and Columbia, now 11-7, will visit No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan (12-1-2) on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
