Brenau Athletics Hall of Fame
Brenau University Athletics announces a nomination form for the Brenau Athletics Hall of Fame. The form allows the Brenau University community to nominate former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff and friends for the Athletics Hall of Fame.
In 2013, swimmers Jan Schroeder Whelchel, Patty Rye and Carol Burdges Payne and benefactor Lessie Bailey Smithgall were inducted as the inaugural class.
In 2014, tennis players Antonina Grib Lerch, Laurence Neuville, Sheau Shan Leslie and former Athletic Director and head tennis coach Gordon Leslie were inducted as the second class.
In 2015, tennis players Leyla Ogan, Helene Macchi and Alexandra Rossi and head tennis coach Bill Rogers were inducted as the third class.
In 2016, coach Dr. Peter "Doc" Kennedy, and swimmers Suzanne Garland, Nancy Voss Emerson, Susie McIntyre Finley and Carol Obermyer Nall were inducted as the fourth class.
In 2017, Athletic Director Dr. Polly Cabe Roberts and swimmers Lisa Bennett, Linda Austin Thompson, Lisa Bowers Drake and Abby Gilliamsen were inducted as the fifth class.
In 2018, tennis players and sisters Ayako Noda Horie and Maiko Noda Hashimoto, swimmers Hannah Boudreaux Vollenweider and softball Tiffany Schandera Sanders were inducted as the sixth class.
In 2019, softball players Anna Maness and Morgan Smith, soccer players Esther Anyanwu and Tori Brown-Cummings and basketball player Ashley Hagans were inducted as the seventh class.
In 2022, softball player Jenny Shepherd Wasden, tennis players Lyn See Choo and Dominika Jasova and track and field runner Olamide Sokunbi were inducted as the eighth class.
In 2023, basketball players Autumn Dodson and Gabrielle Harvey and soccer players Elizabeth Campbell and Linda Chukwuji were inducted as the ninth class.
In 2024, soccer players Marilyn Anderson, Lily Futrell Genova, volleyball player Sydney Koon Johnson and basketball player Brittney Wiley were inducted as the tenth class.
Student-Athletes eligibility guidelines include:
- Induction eligibility beginning after five years from final intercollegiate athletic participation;
- Minimum qualifications of one or more of the following: All-Conference selection, special conference award recipient, NAIA statistical leader, Brenau University single season and/or career statistical leader, All-American selection, NAIA national award recipient or other accomplishment;
- No more than four individuals from all sports may be inducted from this category each year;
Coach/Administrator/staff eligibility guidelines include:
- Induction eligibility beginning after five years after departure/retirement from Brenau University;
- Minimum qualifications of having coached or worked at Brenau University for four years;
- No more than one individual may be inducted in this category each year;
Friend of Athletics eligibility guidelines include:
- Induction eligibility beginning five years after commencing significant involvement with Brenau University Athletics;
- Minimum qualifications of having made a significant contribution to the athletic department, team or specific event;
- No more than one individual may be inducted in this category each year;
