
Freshman Pitchers dazzle in college debuts
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team started the 2025 campaign with a sweep of D2 Fort Valley State University 1-0 and 6-1 in a season opening doubleheader at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Field this Friday.
In the first game, freshman right-hander Malorie Watson struggled with command early but, found her groove and was able to pitch a complete game shutout in her first collegiate start. "That was a game we don't win last year" Coach Thomas said after the game. "Huge credit to new pitching coach Karley Hobbs for calling a great game."
Allie Busbee (Jr.) transfer from Enterprise St drove in the lone run of the first game with an RBI double in the second inning bringing home Watson.
In the second game, the Golden Tigers bats started to come alive as they belted out 12 hits and six runs. Leading the was Ava Moon (so) with three hits and an RBI and Dayton Power with two hits and two RBI's.
Golden Tiger starter Emily Hall (fr) threw a complete game three hitter in her first start for Brenau.
Brenau (2-0 overall, 0-0 AAC) next hosts Brewton-Parker (3-4-1 overall) for another doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 pm and 4 pm eastern. (Weather Dependent)
