Brenau rallies in Game 1 and dominates Game 2 to stay perfect on the season

Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team continued their winning ways with a sweep of Point University 6-3 and 11-2 in a out of conference set at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Field this afternoon.

In the first game, freshman right-hander Malorie Watson had another solid outing but had a few balls get by some diving Golden Tigers which put Point up 3-0 early. Dayton Power led the comeback in the 5th inning when she led off with a double and Junior Whitney Hulsey was able to get her in with a double of her own. Peyton Hawkins tripled two batters later and then Watson doubled her in to give Brenau a lead they would not relinquish. After scoring two more insurance runs in the 6th inning Watson was able to finish out her second start with another complete game win.

In the second game, the Golden Tigers batted around and were able to win in a run-rule shortened affair. Hawkins was the star of the show belting two triples in the game and driving home several Brenau players.

Golden Tiger starter Emily Hall  threw another complete game and notched her second win in a Brenau uniform.

Coach Hobbs was "proud of a great team effort especially in game 1 to come from behind and take the win. Game 2 a huge credit goes out to our hitters to come out swinging and give Hall a nice lead to work with."

Brenau (4-0 overall, 0-0 AAC) next hosts Spartanburg Methodist (6-4 overall) for another doubleheader next Monday (2/24/25) at 1 pm and 3 pm eastern.
