#25 Shorter Shoots Down Brenau in SSAC Basketball

Gainesville, Ga - The #25 Shorter Hawks (21-5, 10-2) rolled into the Tiger Gym today and shot 50% from the field to down the Brenau Golden Tigers (11-12, 3-9), 73-52 in SSAC basketball action. Shorter connected on 13-25 three point shots (.520) and shot .491 overall to control the game from start to finish. Brenau, on the other hand, shot .281 from the field, including 5-22 from three point land (.227). Sophomore Olivia Williams (Hiram) had one of her better games as a collegiate player and finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Freshman Tania Khudiakova (Moscow, Russia) lead the Tigers in scoring with 13 points and also collected five rebounds. Freshman Raveen Crawford was the other Brenau player in double figures with 10 and she came up with six rebounds.
Shorter took control of the game from the outset and built a 37-22 lead by halftime. Brenau hit 9-31 shots (.290) in the first half and just couldn't mount a sustained drive. The second half was more of the same as the Hawks dominated the boards 44-30 and continued their blistering shooting to pull away to the final margin. Shorter's Ashley Harris finished with 16 points and Robyn Foster chipped in with 14.
"When a team shoots the ball as well as they did today, there isn't much you can do," said Coach Bays. "We had too many defensive lapses and didn't shoot well ourselves, so we just couldn't hang with them."
Brenau will travel to Cleveland, TN on Monday to take on league leader and #9 ranked Lee University.
