Brenau Drops SSAC Game to #4 Lee University

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -Putting up quite a fight and giving the home crowd an exciting match-up for their "Pink Night," Brenau dropped a nail-biter to #4-nationally ranked Lee University on February 13 by the final score of 60-72.

It wasn't an easy victory for the Lady Flames (26-1; SSAC 18-0). Brenau started the game in fine form, going on an immediate 11-6 run in the first three minutes of play. Lee fought back and led for the majority of the first half, until a 3-pointer by Brittney Wiley put the Tigers up 26-25 with three minutes left in the period. Brenau would go into the halftime with their biggest lead of the game at 36-28. The Tigers were able to hold their lead for 9 minutes in the second half, until Lee mounted a comeback rally and never looked back.
The Golden Tigers and Lady Flames were very close statistically, with Lee just barely winning the rebounding battle, 40-39. Shooting was problematic for Brenau, as they connected on 32% from the field next to Lee's 43%, though from the 3-point range the Tigers were better, shooting 40% from the arc.
Leading all scorers was Lee's Hollie German with 21 points, along with Karley Miller with 13. Brenau was led by sophomore point guard Brittney Wiley with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Tatiana Khudiakova contributed 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Gabby Harvey turned in a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Brenau returns to conference action on Thursday against Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, GA at 6:00pm.
