Offensive Struggles Continue as CIU Edges Past Golden Tigers Basketball

Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau basketball team fell to Columbia International 60-52 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

The Golden Tigers first half shooting woes continued as the squad shot only 19% (6-32) from the floor, including a matching 19% (3-16) from three point range. However, the team's continued stellar defensive play allowed Brenau stay close, going into the intermission only down 24-20.

In the second half, the offense found its rhythm, including a stretch of 11-12 free throws to tie the game going into the fourth quarter. With 3:44 remaining in the final quarter, Dyiesha Brown scored on a driving layup to cut the deficit to 51-50, however, the home team missed its next two shots to allow the visiting Rams to escape with the victory.

Brown led the Golden Tigers with nine points and eight rebounds, while Maggee Bolt and Cameron Mims each posted eight points.

Three players posted 15 points for Columbia International.

Brenau (5-15 overall, 3-14 AAC) next travels to Tennessee Wesleyan University (13-7 overall, 11-7 AAC) on Monday for a 5:30 pm conference matchup.
