Stafford Garners Third AAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor

Waleska, Georgia- Senior post Kayla Stafford continued her strong senior campaign by garnering her third AAC WinWon Defensive Player of the Week award for the week of January 19-25th , the conference office announced this week.

Stafford dominated the boards for the Golden Tigers by posting 22 rebounds, 16 on the defensive end, and added 2 steals and 2 blocks. She is the first Brenau basketball player to earn three player of the week honors, and the first Brenau athlete since softball standout Eli Daniel (2017) to earn at least three conference player of the week awards. 

For the season, the McDonough, Ga. native is averaging 7 points per game, 13.1 rebounds per game and 2.6 blocks. She currently leads the AAC in rebounds per game (13.1), total rebounds (249), defensive rebounds (177), blocks (49), and total offensive rebounds (72).

Nationally, Stafford  sits in the top-10 among NAIA players as she is ranked seventh in both total rebounds per game and total defensive rebounds per game, and eighth in blocked shots per game.
