The awards keep coming for Stafford, now named National Defensive Player of the Week

Kansas City, MO- Senior post player Kayla Stafford continued her strong senior campaign by garnering her first National Defensive Player of the Week award for the week of February 9-15th, the national NAIA office announced this week.

Stafford dominated the boards for the Golden Tigers by posting 55 rebounds, 39 on the defensive end, and added four steals and 11 blocks. She is the first Brenau basketball player to earn national defensive player of the week honors in several years, and the first Brenau athlete since volleyball standout Mary Ellen Enright (2022).

For the season, the McDonough, Ga. native is averaging 8.2 points per game, 13.8 rebounds per game and 2.6 blocks. She currently leads the AAC in rebounds per game (13.8), total rebounds (345), defensive rebounds (247), blocks (66), and total offensive rebounds (98).

Nationally, Stafford sits in the top-10 among NAIA players as she is ranked sixth in total rebounds per game, fifth in total defensive rebounds per game, and sixth in blocked shots per game.
