Boyd goes back-to-back and wins the 2025 Golden Tiger Collegiate
Gainesville, GA- A beautiful day brought some low scores after a brutally tough first round that was postponed due to weather. The 2025 Golden Tiger was once again hosted by Brenau's home course, Chattahoochee Golf Club and 75 players from 16 teams battled for team and individual honors.
Morela Boyd was able to persevere through all the elements and take individual honors for the first time in the history of Brenau hosting the event. Boyd and teammate Sasha Baker went back and forth leading the tournament over the first 27 holes. Boyd was able to hold off Baker and a few challengers from eventual team Champion Truett-McConnell. This is Boyd's second win of the season and it also comes in back-to-back fashion with her winning the last event of the fall.
In Baker's last home tournament, she was able to secure her best finish and post all-tournament honors with a fifth-place finish. Harper Davis made her debut with the Golden Tigers and was able to finish in 23rd place. Davis a transfer from Southern Union competed in her first tournament in two years.
When asked about his players performance after the tournament here's what Coach Elam had to say: "Coming into the event I really thought Boyd and Baker would have a great chance to compete for individual honors. They were able to handle the elements better than most and it was great to see them battling for medalist honors. I am very proud of the progress Davis has made and look forward to her continuing to get better throughout the spring season."
Truett-McConnell swept the team honors winning both the Men's and Women's event by significant margins. Truett's Matthew Bible took home medalist honors in the Men's event. Final Results can be found HERE.
A huge thanks goes out to Rodger Hogan and his entire staff at Chattahoochee. Sheldon Foote and his crew did a phenomenal job making the golf course playable after the constant rain on Monday. The Golden Tigers are back in action on April 1st competing in the NE Tennessee Shootout hosted by Milligan.
