
Soccer Routs Brewton Parker 5-0
Four second half goals propelled the Brenau soccer team past Brewton Parker (Ga.) College 5-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Thursday in Gainesville.
In the 24th minute, Megan Chandler scored her second goal of the year to give the Golden Tigers an early 1-0 lead. Although Brenau took 15 shots in the first half, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities and took their lead into intermission.
In the second half, the Golden Tigers quickly found their offensive rhythm as Tiffany Raygor found Maddie Corley for her second goal of the season to make the score 2-0. Raygor then scored in the 51st minute from an assist from Chander to increase the Brenau lead to 3-0.
Senior Monica Sanchez notched her first goal for the year in the 79th minute as freshman Hartley Carter assisted for a 4-0 lead. Only seconds later, Raygor scored her second goal of the match off a Jasmine Brewster assist to close out the match 5-0.
With the win, Brenau evened up their conference record at 2-2 before a stretch of five straight SSAC matches.
The Golden Tigers dominated possession, outshooting the visiting Barons 25-0 for the match.
Brenau (6-5, 2-2 SSAC) next travels to Middle Georgia College on Saturday for a 1 pm conference showdown.
