Soccer Falls Late to AUM
The Brenau soccer team led for a majority of the second half but faded late in a 3-2 loss against Auburn University-Montgomery on Monday in Gainesville.
After allowing a Warhawk goal in the 17th minute, the Golden Tigers responded a little more than a minute later as Carly Hill found Megan Chandler to even the score 1-1.
In the 58th minute, Hill continued to help orchestrate the attack as the sophomore notched her second assist of the match by finding freshman Casey Qua to give the Golden Tigers a 2-1 lead.
The Golden Tigers held on to the 2-1 lead until AUM scored goals in both the 83rd and 85th minutes to escape with the 3-2 win.
AUM outshot Brenau 14-9 as keeper Anela Melton saved three shots for the match.
Qua's goal marked her first as a Golden Tiger, while Chandler earned her third goal of 2015.
The match also honored seniors Kaylee Ellison and Monica Sanchez in their final home matches.
Brenau (6-9 overall, 2-5 SSAC) wraps up the regular season slate on October 31st when the squad travels to Bethel (Tenn.) University for a 1:00 pm eastern match.
