Golden Tigers Make History in the Pool

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - On the third and final day of the NAIA National Championships, the Brenau University swim team made history placing 8th overall. This is the university's highest ever finish in the championships- capping off an extremely successful season for the Tigers.

In a tight finish, the 2012 National titles in the men's section was handed to Oklahoma Baptist who narrowly beat Fresno Pacific (Calif.) in the final race. In the women's championships however, Fresno Pacific was crowned champion dominating the competition with 780 points (the highest total in championship history).
Junior, Hannah Boudreaux topped off her sensational weekend racing a close 200 Fly in the final heat placing in 2nd (2:05.38). She set yet another school record and gained All American status in the process. Freshman, Michelle Billeaud made her mark in the 200 Back (2:10.23) placing 10th, and Meredith Barrington set a personal best and placed 10th in the 200 Fly (2:15.00). Finishing strong, the 400 Free Relay team captured 7th place (3:35.08 - School Record).

Brenau's record books have been re-written this year by this stellar group, leaving only 5 of 18 unbroken. The Golden Tigers now boast three NAIA & CSCAA All American nods with Hannah Boudreaux; one CSCAA All American Honorable Mention in Michelle Billeaud; and four CSCAA All American Honorable Mention Relays.

Delighted Head Coach, Blaire Bachman stated, "I have the privilege of coaching the most amazing and talented women. This was our highest national ranking to date and each and every one of our teammates deserves the credit for this accomplishment. Hard work for the past seven months led us to this big moment, and it was worth it!"
