Swimming Earns Two More Titles on Day Two of 2022 AAC Championships

Kingsport, Tennessee- On the second day of the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, the Brenau Golden Tigers had another standout day, including two first place finishes.

Bayley Blackmon continued her outstanding performance at the championships with a second individual title. After winning the 50 freestyle on Thursday, the Dothan, Ala. native set a new meet record in the 100 yard butterfly, breaking her own record from 2021. Blackmon raced to a time of 58.23, smashing her previous record of 58.33 and outpacing Milligan's Rachel Scheffer by almost one second.

The Golden Tigers also won their first relay title of the 2022 championships as the team of Callie Edens, Haley Bartoletta, Cloe Barthelemy and Blackmon cruised past West Virginia Tech by over five seconds to win the 400 medley relay.

Brenau continued to perform well in the relays as the 200 freestyle relay team of Blackmon, Barthelemy, Melanie Wicht and Bailey Ibarra also raced to a second place finish with a time of 1:41.09.

Other Golden Tigers individual performers on the second day of competition include:

Cloe Barthelemy, fourth place, 100 yard butterfly, 1:02.59;

Haley Bartoletta, fifth place, 100 yard butterfly, 1:02.86;

Callie Edens, fourth place, 100 yard backstroke, 1:03.98; eighth place, 100 yard butterfly, 1:04.76;

Vivianne Fuentes, seventh place, 200 yard freestyle, 2:24.66;

Emily Giles, ninth place, 100 yard backstroke, 1:12.41;

Bailey Ibarra, fifth place, 200 yard freestyle, 2:09.84;

Melanie Wicht, seventh place, 100 yard butterfly, 1:04.76;

The Golden Tigers continue to hold onto second place with 359 points, while Milligan (Tenn) leads the women's competition with 533 points. West Virginia Tech sits in third place with 272 points and Union (Ky.) College rounds out the top four teams with 167 points.
