Tennis Defeats Clark-Atlanta 5-2

Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau tennis team swept Clark-Atlanta (Ga.) University 5-2 in a non-conference matchup on Friday.

In doubles competition, the #1 pairing of Shaloom Delgado and Anita Bizigato Portes overwhelmed the #1 pairing of Jumai Muhammed and Joiya Middlebooks by a score of 6-1. Although the #2 team of  Cady Geddings and Kristina Radovic ;ost 6-2, the Golden Tigers rallied to take the point as the #3 squad of Manuela Giraldo and Nadja Noriega-Alcala won by forfeit. 

Continuing to singles play, the Golden Tigers swept spots 1-3, while the host Panthers rallied with victories at #4 and #5. However, Clark-Atlanta's lack of depth ended up the difference as Cady Gedding won by forfeit at #6 singles to clinch the match.

#4 Joiya Middlebooks CAU) def. Manuela Giraldo (BU) 6-1, 6-1; 

#5 Alexandra Turnbough (CAU) def. Anita Bizigato Portes (BU) 6-2, 6-3; 

#6 Cady Geddings (BU)  won by forfeit. 

Brenau (3-5 overall, 0-3 AAC) gets back into Appalachian Athletic Conference play with a match against Milligan (Tenn.) (3-8 overall, 1-3 AAC) on Monday at 3 pm at the Lessie Smithgall Tennis Center.
