Volleyball Drops Two Close Matches in AAC Play
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team lost two close five-set matches this past weekend as the squad fell to Montreat (NC) College (17-25,19-25,25-21,28-26,8-15) and Milligan (Tenn.) College (18-25,25-19,23-25,27-25,13-15) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
Against Montreat, junior Rachel Hodges led the attack with a season-high 23 kills, while fellow junior Sydney Norton added 24 assists. Freshman Rocio Santiago contributed 14 assists and sophomore Julieanne Saliba added 19 digs.
Against Milligan, the squad again pushed the match to five sets, but came up just short in the final set.
Hodges led a balanced attack with 14 kills, while freshman Chloe Bennett and senior Lanier Leonard added career-highs in kills with 12 and 11 respectively.
The Golden Tigers also had more career-highs against Milligan as Norton had 29 assists and Saliba posted 22 digs.
Brenau next takes on Columbia (SC) College (0-5 overall, 0-5 AAC) on Tuesday at 6:30 pm in Gainesville. Livestreaming for the match can be found here.
