Cleveland, Georgia- The Brenau Golden Tigers played three matches on the opening day of the 2025 TMU Labor Day Bear Bash on Friday.
In the opening match of the day, the Golden Tigers struggled against Life (Ga.) University (2-1 overall) in a 3-0 (16-25, 14-25, 12-25) loss. Brenau struggled offensively as the squad was outhit .310-.011 by the Running Eagles.
Against Point (Ga.) University (3-5 overall), the squad pushed the Skyhawks in each set, but came up short in a 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 20-25) loss. Freshman Alyssa Evans led the squad with 6 kills, while junior Jomaris Maldonado added 13 digs to lead the defense.
In the final match of the day, Brenau fell again in three sets (20-25, 23-25, 17-25) to AAC foe Bryan (Tenn.) College (1-8 overall) in a non-conference matchup. Junior Hannah Werner led the attack with 9 kills, while Evans and senior Dallas Morse each posted 10 digs.
