Audra Cochran Is Golden Tiger of the Week
Gainesville, GA- Junior Audra Cochran (Stockbridge) has been selected as Golden Tiger of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-13 for her performance at the Southern Cross Country Challenge last Saturday in Marietta. Cochran, who is usually the top runner for the Golden Tigers, did not lead the way in this race, but showed incredible determination after a nasty fall to get back up and finish second for Brenau. This is what her coach, Susan McIntyre, had to say in nominating her.
"Audra Cochran is my nomination for Golden Tiger of the Week. She did her best first mile split of the season in a time of 6:21 and led the way for Regina and Maria to also run under 6:30 for the first mile. Unfortunately about 1 miles in to the race Audra slipped and fell hard on a wooden foot bridge. On the way down, she hit her right bicep and shoulder on the railing and then hit hard on her right hip. With people trampling around her, she was able to recover from the situation and still finish within 14 seconds of Regina (who was on a mission to do her best time on her Junior College home course). Audra's time was 22:35 and she was on target to finish within the top 10 in this race before her fall. Therefore, I am nominating her for GTOW due to her perseverance to be the best she could be, under any situation"
