Audra Cochran Competes in Marathon
Pine Mountain, Ga - Senior Audra Cochran (Stockbridge) became the first Brenau student to compete in a marathon last Sunday when she lined up for the Callaway Gardens Marathon. Not only did she compete, but she won the women's division, which was composed of 44 runners, and placed 10th overall out of 128 finishers. Her time for the 26.2 mile race was 3:29.59, which would qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Cochran just completed an outstanding career last fall by becoming the first runner in cross country history at Brenau to run under 20 minutes in a 5K race. The Tigers had their best finish in school history at the conference championships last fall, placing 5th in a nine team field. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Audra is an outstanding student and was recently named an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete.
"Audra is one of the most determined runners I have had the privilege to coach," said Coach Susan McIntyre. "When she sets her mind to do something, she usually accomplishes it. She has brought honor to our program and the school and we will miss her. There will be other runners to follow, but none quite like her"
