Cross Country Shows Well in First Meet

In the first test of the season, the Brenau Cross Country team traveled to Western Carolina University for the Western Carolina Invitational.

Racing among several large NCAA Division I teams, the Golden Tigers showed well, placing 9th overall.

In a very competitive field, of over 100 runners, freshman Tori Mullinax (Gainesville, GA) paced the Golden Tigers finishing 43rd. Sophomore Utami Ketchem (Flowery Branch, GA) placed 65th and junior Brittany Aikens (Braselton, GA) finished 67th.

Finishing 4th on the team and 76th in the event was junior Sarah Saenz (Lawrenceville, GA) while freshman Natalie Williams (Dalton, GA) finished 79th .

"It was great seeing our new team members taking places in the top five on our team," said head coach Susan McIntyre. "Our 6th through 14th runners will compete and work their way into the top five positions on our squad. This group of women is ready to move the Golden Tigers up in the SSAC rankings".

The team hits the ground running again on September 14th at the University of North Georgia at Gainesville in Gainesville, GA.
