Cross Country Fares Well at Nationals

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — (Results) British Columbia concluded its national title defense, bringing home its second-straight team title at the 34th Annual NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships Saturday at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan.

The Thunderbirds, who were ranked No.1 in the NAIA in the final-regular season poll, become just the third team to begin the season ranked No. 1 and go on to win the National Championships. The Southern States Athletic Conference Champions, Brenau University, placed 25th in today's competition with 773 points, a total time of 1:42:57.26 and an average time of 20:35.46. Utami Ketchem led the Golden Tigers with a total time of 20:16.00 and 6:31.4 average mile. Blue Mountain College also represented the SSAC today, placing 31st overall with 897 points, a total time of 1:46:08.72 and and average finish of 21:13.75. Leading the Toppers and placing 224th with a total time of 20:26.96 was LaTifa Swims running a 6:35.0 average mile.
