
Brenau Cross Country Places Second at Saucony Invitational
At the Saucony Invitational held in Helen, Georgia, the Brenau Cross Country team placed second out of ten teams and had the top two finishers in the meet.
Senior Brittany Aikens led the pack with a time of 19:35, finishing first out of 83 runners. Junior Utami Ketchem, who led the Golden Tigers in their previous meet, finished close behind her teammate in 19:46.
Junior Deishane Honeycutt finished 11th overall in 21:43, while fellow junior Jasmine Ray finished 13th overall with a time of 21:50. Freshman Kaitlyn Gearing finished three seconds behind in 14th place in 21:53 to round out the top five finishers.
Tyana Luna finished 25th overall in 23:02 and Ismaelle Occeus finished 36th in 23:56.
"This week was a tougher course than last week, but everyone's time improved," said head coach Susan McIntyre. Everyone is settling into their race mode".
Covenant (Ga.) College finished ahead of the Golden Tigers, while conference foe Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) University finished in third place. Piedmont (Ga.) College finished in fourth place while host Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College secured fifth place.
Brenau next races in Gainesville, Georgia at the University of North Georgia Invitational on September 27th.
