Cross Country Opens At UGA Invitational

In the opening meet of the season, the Brenau cross country team placed second at the UGA invitational on Saturday in Athens.

Competing in the non-Division I, the Golden Tigers notched three top-10 finishers to start the season.

Michelle Velazquez led the way with an overall eight place finish as the sophomore ran 22:11, while senior Monika Nwajei finished close behind in 24:11. Nia Griffin placed 10^th in 24:41 and Anazjah Mayes (26:06) and Elizabeth Lowe (27:06) finished 11^th and 12^th respectively.

Ayana Daniels placed 16^th overall in 28:20, while Aunica Clinton (29:44, 17^th place) and Felicia Gordon (31:07, 21^st place) rounded out the Golden Tigers runners.

Brenau next runs at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga. on September 9^th.
