
Cross Country Edges Past Reinhardt in Season Opener
Canton, Georgia- The Brenau cross country team opened the 2019 season by topping conference rival Reinhardt (Ga.) University in a head to head matchup at Boling Park on Saturday.
In the squad's first race under the guidance of head coach Byron Kramer, the Golden Tigers captured two of the three top spots to narrowly edge past the host Eagles with a team average time advantage of 0.14 seconds (1:57.05 to 1:57.19).
Newcomer Rachel Boulineau secured top honors with a time of 19:34 to outpace Reinhardt freshman Caprice Konitshek who ran 20:58. Sophomore Shannon Hoolahan finished only one second behind Konitshek in 20:59, and junior Bianca Orr placed fifth with a time of 22:32. Senior Giovanna Sifontes (25:35) captured eighth place, while freshman Keren Kepwadi (28:23), sophomore Evelin Gouveia (28:59) and junior Keri Ashworth (29:01) placed 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.
Brenau next races at the Middle Georgia Invitational in Macon, Ga. on September 7th.
