Cross Country Competes at Brenau Invitational

Gainesville, Georgia- In the opening meet of the year, the Brenau cross country team placed two runners in the top ten at the Brenau Invitational, hosted at North Hall Park on Friday.

Freshman Kiyah Pittman and junior Shannon Hoolahan led the Golden Tigers with outstanding performances at the invitational. Pittman, a Rex, Georgia native, raced to a fourth place finish in 22:16.71 in her first collegiate meet, while Hoolahan, a native of Hoschton, Georgia, captured tenth place in 23:07.16.

Fellow junior Zoie Gardner finished close behind in 11th place in a time of 23:19.12, and freshman Briona Bierkamp placed 13th in 24:26.89. Other Golden Tiger finishers include senior Bianca Braz (17th place/25:14.91), sophomore Keren Kepwadi (19th place/26:45.60), freshman Emily Martinez (21st place/28:15.47) and sophomore Paola Benitez-Hernandez (34:45.11).

Individually, Savannah Campbell of Truett McConnell (Ga.) University took top honors with a time of 20:27.18.

The Golden Tigers had a total team time of 1:58.25 and an average time of 23:40.96 to capture third place. Truett McConnell (Ga.) University placed first with a total team time of 1:48.37, while Reinhardt (Ga.) University finished second with a total team time of 1:58.14.

Brenau next competes at the Royals Challenge, hosted by Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 9th.
