Dixon and Akin Represent Golden Tigers at 2024 NAIA Cross Country National Championships

Golden Tiger cross country runners Kamille Dixon and Averie Akin represented well at the 2024 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships in Columbia, Missouri. 

Competing with the nation's best collegiate runners, Dixon delivered an impressive

time of 23:06 in the 6K race. She placed 139th out of 327 competitors in her first national championship appearance.

Teammate Averie Akin demonstrated significant progress from her 2023 championship appearance by finishing 170th, which is a 90 spot improvement from her first appearance at the championships. Akin raced to a 23:22, which was almost a two-minute improvement from the 2023 championships. 

According to head track and field coach O.B. Bridges, "Both Kamille and Averie had tremendous cross country seasons this year. Their hard work and strong finish to the cross country season will serve both well as they gear up for the upcoming track and field season".

Taylor (Ind.) University's Jaynie Halterman won the overall individual title in a time of 20:24.
